Melapress is a remote software startup that develops several WordPress security, user management, and administration plugins. Our plugins are installed on more than 400,000 websites and help website administrators and managers improve the security of their websites and better manage them and their users.
What you will be doing
As a senior WordPress plugin developer, you will:
- Design and develop new features in our plugin portfolio, with a focus on WP Activity Log and WP 2FA.
- Identify and implement opportunities to integrate AI into our development workflows and product features.
- Review, contribute, and improve our existing open-source codebases.
- Collaborate with the support and product team to troubleshoot and fix bugs in the existing codebase.
- Stay on top of the latest WordPress and web security trends to keep our plugins ahead of the curve.
- Uphold high standards of code quality through thorough reviews, testing, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all the projects you work on.
By working in a small but fast-growing team, other responsibilities (and development opportunities) may come along from time to time.
Skills and experience
- 5+ years of experience developing WordPress plugins (free and/or premium).
- 6+ years of experience working with PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL.
- Deep understanding of the WordPress architecture, including hooks, REST API, security best practices, and performance.
- Solid knowledge of WordPress / web security, with experience in logging / logs, authentication and MFA, and user account security.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Experience with or interest in AI tools, especially those that can accelerate development or enhance plugin features.
- Experience with Git and not afraid of merging conflicts.
- Comfortable working in a remote team and capable of working independently.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English communication.
